Staff Reporter :The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and its vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in different cases.An HC bench comprising Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice Khasruzzaman passed the bail order.Lawyer Nitai Roy Chowdhury moved for Gayeshwar and Khandaker Mahbub Hossain moved for Shamsher Mobin in the court.On the other hand, the HC bench of Justice Nuruzzaman and Justice Zafar Ahmed, on May 5, issued a rule upon authorities concerned to explain within two weeks why bail should not be granted to BNP leader Gayeshwar.On December 24 in 2014, activists of BNP and Chhatra League locked into a clash at Bakshibazar area of the city over BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearing before the court in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.Later, a case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station in the city as AL lawmaker from Netrokona-1 constituency Chhabi Biswas was attacked in the clash. Apart from this, on January 9, Shamsher Mobin was arrested from his residence in vandalism cases filed with Chakbazar Police Station and Shahbagh Police Station.
