A 24-yead old female garment worker was allegedly gang-raped by some miscreants inside a running bus of Jatriseba Paribahan on Dhaka-Dhamrai road at Kotchmotch in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district on Sunday night.
The members of law enforcing agencies have arrested the five rapists from the bus, police said.
They are Sohel Rana, 20, Mokbul Hossen, 38, from Dhaka’s Dhamrai, Babu Mallik, 24, from chuadanga Sadr upazila, Abdul Aziz, 25, from Mymensingh’s Fulbaria, and Bolram, 20, from Nilphamari’s Dimla.
Dhamrai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Haq said that the miscreants got the female worker into the bus forcibly while she was returning to her residence at Islampur as soon as her office closed around 10:00pm.
“The victim was screaming when the youths raped her one after another inside the bus. At one stage, a team of petrol police intecercepted the bus following the screaming of the woman from the bus and detained the youths, the police official said.
Earlier, another garment worker was also reportedly raped on the Dhaka-Aricha highway by the driver and his helper in January 24, 2013.
