Police have arrested two people including a female on charges of gang-raping a 35-year-old woman by showing job temptation.
They were arrested from Dhaka’s Sabujbagh area on Monday night and the arrestees identified as Sanjiv Kumar Das and Anika, said Sabujbag Police Station’s OC Muradul Islam.
He also said that Sanjiv called a female from Keraniganj to a house in South Mothertech area by showing job temptation in a bank on February 15. Anika, Rasel, Jamal, and Azizur were also present there. Later, the woman was raped by Sanjiv and others. The rape victim filed a case against five people at Sabujbag Police Station on Monday. Police later raided in Sabujbag area and arrested Anika and Sanjiv, he added.
He also said that during a primary interrogation, they know that another rape case has against Sanjiv in Khilgaon Police Station. The operation is continuing to arrest the other.
The rape victim mentioned in the case statement that she got divorced from her husband five years ago. She has been maintaining her living expenses by working in a garment factory.
The victim met with Sanjiv on February 10. Sanjiv told the victim that he has connection and he can give her a good job in the bank. Later, he called the victim in a house in Mothertech area by showing job temptation.
At one point, the male members raped her. The woman Anika who was present there helped them in this work. It is also mentioned in the statement that Sanjiv threatened to kill her if the incident came to light.
