Pagla Thana Police of Mymensingh’s Gafargaon Upazila have arrested seven members of the CNG-powered auto rickshaw thieves’ gang and recovered two stolen CNGs.
The arrested have been identified as Saidul Islam, 32, son of Mofiz Uddin of Kanyamandal village, Sohail Mia, 23, son of Suruj Mia of Sholhasia village, Masum Mia, 19, son of Rafiqul of Rouha village, Anik, 19, son of Falan Singh of Kandipara village and Hamid of Barigaon village. Sajib (20), son of Khokon of Birai village, Sarat (20), Shakil (21) son of late Abdul Hai of Birai village.
Pagla Police Station OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said the seven arrested were members of an organized CNG gang. There are several cases of theft and snatching against them in Pagla police station.
In another operation, Pagla police arrested a motorcycle thief from Mirzapur village in Pakundia upazila of neighboring Kishoreganj district and recovered a stolen motorcycle and a sophisticated key for stealing a motorcycle.
It is learned that on Monday (May 24) at around 6 pm, a motorcycle named Saurav Dey (23) of Hijlia area of Mirzapur village of Pakundia upazila broke the lock of the motorcycle of Md. Monir Ali (26) of Khurshidmahal village from Khurshidmahal bridge area of Panchbagh union of the upazila. Pagla police on a tip-off arrested Sourav Dey from Mirzapur area of Pakundia upazila around 9pm on Monday and recovered Monir Ali’s stolen motorcycle on the basis of his confession.
Pagla Police Station OC Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said Sourav Dey had been sent to Mymensingh district court on a charge of motorcycle theft.
