Jagrata Juba Shangha (JJS) is implementing a project titled “Capacity for Participatory Institutional Analysis (CPIA)” in the southwest delta of Bangladesh, in partnership with TU Delft, Deltares and KUET funded by Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO).
The main goal of the project is to enhance the capacity of water related institutions and local residents in the coastal areas. To achieve this goal, the project is working to build the capacity of communities to understand the role of institutions in water-related issues through capacity building training, game development, practicing games with communities, sharing knowledge and experiences with regional and national level stakeholders.
As part of the project activities, a “Workshop on Project Progress and Game Based Approach for Participatory Institutional Analysis” was held on 16th December, 2020 in the meeting room of Batiaghata Upazila Nirbahi Office.
At this stage, the objective of the workshop was to provide knowledge on tidal river management (TRM) to the residents of Polder in a simple manner and to provide specific ideas on how the residents of Poldar can recover compensation for land acquisition from the concerned authorities. Batiaghata Upazila Officer was present as Nirbahi the chief guests on the occasion.
Besides, UpazilaAssistant Commissioner (Land), Upazila Social Service Officer and Upazila Agriculture Officer were also present in the workshop. Members of WMG, WMO and local residents in polders actively participated in the workshop and practiced the game. The UNO felt comfort that the progress has been conducted so far for building institutional and local community capacity.
