Gambling is running rampantly at least 27 spots in the shade of influential across Dupchanchia Upazila of Bogra district for long time..
Young people, mostly college and university students, are gradually becoming partner of the gambling board selling their family commodities. The source said that at least 27 spots are being used gambling nearby kitchen market of CO office, Islampur Kanabari, Namaikola, Dhaphat , Sukhanpukur under sadar union, Amsotro under Gobindapur union ,Mostafapur under Chamrul union ,Surjota under Gunaher union, Johalmatai and Ghatmagura under Chamrul union of the upazila.
Besides, the listed gamblers, some influential persons of bordering areas having link with political leaders and law enforcers also get involved in this , detective sources added. Upazila Nirbahi officer Saifur Rahman Khan said, “I have conducted a drive in 1st December nearby upazila campus area and arrested 25 gamblers but the gambles and their supporters barricaded the Bogra-Naogaon high way immediately.” Thinking suffering of the passer-by I had to free 20 gamblers from the spot.” He added. He urged to the common people to be more conscious about gambling. Officer-in-charge of Dupchanchia police station Gopal Chandra Chocrobarty said, “I have jointed in the police station recently but I have heard about gambling in the area.
