Gambling in BPL

The gambling has been started from the very beginning of AKS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 cricket. It becomes a serious stage. A youth was killed at Badda in the city recently due to betting of the match of the ongoing BPL.
BPL Governing Council at a press conference expressed on Friday that Police arrested 77 gamblers including seven Indians as they were engaged in betting at the gallery in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Later, The members of Detective Branch of Police arrested two persons, who were involved in betting. One person was arrested with a laptop. Then Police released the person.
A official of National Security Intelligence (NSI) said to a local website, ” We are working in the stadium wearing plain clothes to arrest the gamblers. “
Member Secretary of BPL Governing Council Ismail Haider Mallick said, ” We cannot take action against those gamblers, who engaged in betting all over the country. But we have a unit, which is working against the corruption at the stadium and adjacent to the stadium. The unit used to take action if it find any illegal activities, which is related with gambling.”
He said, ” BCB is working for awareness against the gambling. In this regard, BCB has acknowledged the youth about anti-graft activities using slogans in the scoreboard at the stadium.”
