Gaibandha Sadar upazila parishad announced an annual budget of Tk 2.61 crore, for the fiscal year 2015-2016 on Thursday.
A simple function organized by upazila parishad was held at its conference room of the town here in the afternoon with acting upazila parishad chairman Rashida Begum in the chair.
UNO Ashraful Momin Khan formally declared the budget in presence of all.
In the proposed budget, Tk 2 crore and 11 lakh has been shown as income from the revenue collection and Tk 50 lakh as income from the government development fund.
Tk 2 crore, 49 lakh and 22,670 has been shown as expenditure in different sectors while Tk 11 lakh and 77,330 has been shown as surplus.
Priorities in the budget have been given to the programme for agriculture, education, health, ICT, irrigation, cottage industries establishment, rural and socio-economic infrastructural development, sports and culture.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by upazila engineer of local government engineering department Masudur Rahman, local AL leader Rezaul Karim Reza, Ghagoa UP chairman Aminuruzzaman Rinku and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman.
The speakers in their speeches stressed the need for implementing the budget properly through ensuring transparency and accountability to push forward the upazila towards desired development and prosperity.
All upazila level officials, public representative, political leaders, town elite and invited guests including the journalists of print and electronic media attended the budget announcing function.
