Gafur Hali’s songs get copyright

Devotional and mystic songs penned by legendary lyricist of Chattogram Abdul Gafur Hali has received copyright certificate. Registrar Zafar Raja Chowdhury handed over the copyright certificates of 300 regional and Maizbhandari songs written by the mystic poet of Chattogram, to Abdul Gafur Hali Research Center Vice-Chairman Mohammad Mohsin and Secretary Nasir Uddin Haider, at the Copyright Office in Dhaka on Sunday.
Abdul Gafur Hali is a legendary lyricist and composer of devotional Maizbhandari songs of Chattogram. He has written
about 2,000 songs. A collection of 76 Maizbhandari songs of Abdul Gafur Hali have been translated into German. Researcher Prof Hans Harder of Heidelberg University of Germany published the collection of 76 songs under the title of ‘Pagla Gafur Says’ in 2004. Prof Harder denoted the songs as ‘Mystical songs of East Bengal (Bangladesh)
composed by Abdul Gafur Hali.’
