In Mymensingh’s Gafargaon, Deputy Assistant Officer (Naib) Ramendra Narayan Bishwakarma of Panchbagh Union Land Office was detained by the locals for taking bribe. A local broker named Rifat (18) was arrested at that time. At around 6 pm, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and the Assistant Commissioner (AC Land) took the police and rescued him from the hands of the locals.
According to the locals, Naib Ramendra Narayan, who is in charge of the Panchbagh land office, has been harassing and bribing people unnecessarily. He has been doing this free service for a long time in exchange for money.
Naib Ramendra Narayan was detained at the Panchbagh land office around 11am on Wednesday. Later, the matter was brought to the notice of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Tajul Islam and AC Land Kaberi Roy through local public representatives.
In the afternoon, UNO Tajul Islam and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaberi Roy visited the spot. Later, Naib Ramendra Narayan was rescued from the Panchbagh land office along with the police of Pagla police station and brought to the Upazila Parishad, assuring the agitated crowd of proper justice.
On behalf of the victims, Nazrul Islam (Tk 45,000), Yasin (Tk 15,000), Panna Khatun (Tk 20,000), Humayun Kabir (Tk 36,000) and Abul Kalam (Tk 40,000) of Char Shankhchura village in Uttar Harina village of Panchbagh Union ) Made a written complaint against the accused Naib for accepting bribe for this money. A local broker named Rifat (18) was arrested at that time.
Assistant Commissioner (Aceland) Kaberi Roy said the accused Naib has been restrained from duty. Earlier, the higher authorities have been informed in writing for these activities.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) said. Tajul Islam said the allegations of the victims have been taken into account. The accused Naib was rescued from public anger with the help of police and brought to the Upazila Parishad. He was also warned two days ago. Legal action is being taken against him.
