Furniture trader killed in Jessore

A trader was stabbed to death by miscreants at Sheikhhati Bablatala on the outskirts of Jessore district town on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Gafur, 40, owner of Foreign Furniture and son of Abdul Jabbar of the area.
Abdur Rahim, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station, said 5-7 armed miscreants intercepted Gafur near his shop around 9 pm and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was whisked away to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.Abdul Jabbar, father of the deceased, said Gafur and his neighbour Kabir had been at loggerheads over the demarcation of their house area. “Kanchan, son of Kabir Mia, along with some goons killed Gafur,” alleged.
Shikder Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of Kotowali Police Station, said Gafur might have been killed over a land dispute.Police arrested Kanchan and his wife for their alleged involvement in the incident.
