Fugitive killers of Bangabandhu to be brought back: Mannan

Planning Minister MA Mannan on Friday said the fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would be brought back to the country through legal procedures for implementing the court verdict.
“The enemies defeated in 71 are still hatching conspiracy against the country… The fugitive killers of Bangabandhu who are now staying in different countries, including the United States, Canada, Africa, Europe, would be brought back home through legal procedures for execution of the court verdict,” he said.
The minister came up with the demand at a discussion and Doa-mahfil held on Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College premises in the city on the occasion of National Mourning Day.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (Sutrapur Thana) organised the meeting with its president Ahsan Siddiqui in the chair.
If the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Hasina did not return to the country, Gen Zia would have made the country as a part of Pakistan, he said. General Ziaur Rahman was involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu and did everything behind the scene, he said, adding that his son Tarique Rahman also plotted to assassinate Sheikh Hasina on August 21, 2004. The minister said the nation has to be free from this stigma by bringing all of the involved persons in this regard to the book. Awami League (AL) leader Advocate Balaram Poddar, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Vice-President and Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendro artiste Rafiqul Alam, its General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana, Krishok League Vice-President Sheikh Md Jahangir Alam and Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College Principal Prof Dr Md Abul Hossain were present, among others, on the occasion.
