Department of Music under the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dhaka (DU) accorded a reception to the new students of first year (Hons.) on Monday at the Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) auditorium of the university.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain attended the program as chief guest. Chairperson of the Department Shahanaj Nasrin Ila presided over the function while welcome speech was given by Associate Prof Aklima Islam Kuheli. Faculty members, senior students and fresh students were present on the occasion.
Welcoming the new students, Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain urged them to practice pure music and contribute significantly in the field of music. Terming higher education as open, he emphasized that the students need to increase their wisdom by studying different disciplines in addition to their own.
