French-BD trade show begins on Friday

France is keen to boost the economic and trade relations with Bangladesh considering the latter’s huge economic prospect.
“Both the countries have been maintaining a warm diplomatic relation over the years with bilateral trade and investment is growing tremendously,” Sophie Aubert, The ambassador of France in Dhaka told at a press briefing on Wednesday.
The briefing was held at her official residence in city’s Gulshan on the eve of France trade show to be held on Friday.
“Paris considers Dhaka its best friend. So, it wants to accelerate the bilateral trade relations with Bangladesh taking the initiative to bring new investment in various sectors” Sophie added.
The France envoy said that Bangladesh has to do more on technology transfer and maintain a congenial investment climate to attract more overseas investment into the country.
She expects that a number of deal will sign with French’s’ businessmen during the exhibition.
France-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCIFB) is organizing the two-day’s (December 9-10) trade show for first time in the country.
The show will be held at citys’ la Meridian Hotel.
On December 9, the exhibition will remain open to public from 10am to 8pm and it will remain open for visitors from 10pm to 5pm on December 10.
According to organizers, 16 French companies will showcase their products and services in the exhibition.
They will also present their technical and technological capabilities at the show.
The show will create the opportunities for Bangladeshi businessmen and investors to get along with French investors and entrepreneurs.
Organizers said, the show will help expand French products and services as well as investment in Bangladesh.
“France is the best friend of Dhaka” said Sophie Aubert. “We want to further increase bilateral trade and commerce with the country, as part the trade show” she added.
The ambassador also told that France-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce hosted the anniversary marking the first time. A number of deal will sign with French’s’ businessmen during the exhibition time, She added. CCIFB President M Maqsud, Director Dr Rifat Rashid, Chairman of Policy Advocacy Syed Mahmudul Huq and Economic and Commercial Counselor of the France Embassy Francois Petit were also present, among others.
