Fraud gangs active again Corona tests done with fake, expired kits

After JKG’s Sabrina and Regent’s Shahid incidents in corona test fraud, another horrific scandal has come up in light in the second wave of corona pandemic.
According to sources, countless corona virus detection tests have already been completed across the country with fake kits supplied by 3 fraudsters using institutional names.
In such a circumstance, it is being investigated that how many people have been harmed by such fake and expired kits.
It is feared that the test kits were supplied not only to the private sector but also to various government hospitals from these three fraud companies.
The intelligence team of the Rapid Action Battalion launched an in-depth investigation to find out the number of fake, expired and notorious kits supplied to the different hospitals in the country.
As part of the investigation, RAB has already arrested nine members of the three fraudulent companies.
The three alleged companies were identified as Biolab International, Hi-Tech Health Care and Exxon Technology & Services Limited.
Sources said that several government and non-government organizations have already collected kits from these 3 fraudsters and tested over suspected corona patients.
On Friday evening, RAB-2 Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Imran Ullah Sarkar said that they conducted overnight raids on three institutions in Banani and Mohammadpur area of the capital on Friday.
The arrested are Md Shamim Molla, 40, owner of BioLab International; Md Shahidul Alam, 42, manager of BioLab International; Md Mahmudul Hasan, Managing Director of Axon Technologies and Services Ltd; SM Mostafa Kamal, 48, Managing Director of Hi Tech Health Care Ltd; Abdullah Al Baki Sabbir, 24, engineer at BioLab International; Md Ziaur Rahman, 35, office assistant at BioLab International; Md Sumon, 35, accountant at BioLab International; Zahidul Islam Pulok, 27, office clerk and marketing officer at BioLab International; and Md Sohel Rana, 28, service engineer at BioLab International.
During the raid, RAB also seized 4 trucks of unauthorized medical products, expired coronavirus detection testing kits and re-agent wrapped products of Biolab International Limited.
 According to RAB information, the preliminary investigation has revealed the shocking information by interrogating the arrested and reviewing the seized documents.
Earlier, Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim, owner of Regent Hospital, and Sabrina Arif, Chairman of JKG Group, were arrested for corona test fraud last year.
