Wasim murder: Four walk to gallows

A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced four persons to death in case filed on the charge of killing a man.
On Thursday, Judge Faizullisa of the Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order convicting four people.
The convicts are- Abdul Baten, Zahangir Alam alias Alam, Palak Rahman alias Danger Sagar and Paplu. Of the accused Baten and Palak are behind the bar while other two convicts have been on the run. The two accused were produced in the court on the occasion and they were sent to the prison for the process of execution of the verdict. Warrants have been issued against the two fugitives to do the needful to implement their sentence. Prosecution lawyer Golam Dastagir confirmed the media about the information.
On April 4, 2015, police recovered body of an unknown man from behind Palli Biddut Samitee-2 Power Station of Bashpatti area under the Keraniganj Moldel Police Station of Dhaka.
Police filed a murder case accusing some unknown people. Later, after investigation police learnt the identity of the alleged killers and also the motive of the murder. The concerned police also arrested the accused.
The accused told police, that victim Wasim driven out driven out bamboo businessman Alam from the local club, which made them angry and furious. Later, Alam made conspiracy with other accused to kill Wasim. Accordingly, on April 3, 2015, Palak and Sajib were waiting in a factory near Bashpatti building for Wasim while other accused Baten and Paplu took Wasim there from the Babubazar Bridge. As soon as Wasim was taken there, other accused tied Wasim with rope. Later, all the accused hacked Wasim to death with knives.
