Four researchers selected as ‘UGC Professor’

University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has selected four renowned researchers of the country as ‘UGC Professor’ for the next two years. The decision was unanimously taken at a meeting held with UGC Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah in the chair on Tuesday, said a press release.
The selected UGC Professors are: Dr Fakhrul Alam, Retired Professor of English Department, University of Dhaka, Dr Khorshed Ahmed Kabir, Retired Professor of Nuclear Engineering, University of Dhaka, Dr A B M Abdullah, Retired Professor of Medicine, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and Dr Md Abdul Mannan Akanda, Ex-Vice Chancellor and Retired Professor of Plant Pathology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.
According to UGC Professorship guideline, retired renowned researchers of Bangladesh are given UGC professorship. The UGC Professor will receive a monthly honorium, which shall be equivalent to the highest monthly salary of a selection grade professor. The UGC professor will be attached to a university or an approved research institution of his/her choice.
