A team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday interrogated four people over the killing of college girl Sohagi Jahan Tonu.
The CID team, headed by Dhaka senior police super Abdul Kahhar Akand said the team interrogated Alal Hossain, paternal uncle of Tonu, his wife Sazeda Begum, Nazrul Islam, a union parishad member of Kodalkata union in Muradnagar upazila and Zidni, a resident of the Mainamati cantonment area and friend of Pyer in the afternoon. “We have interrogated many people over the murder and we are investigating the information given by them. I hope we’ll solve the mystery soon”, he said.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, 19, a second year history student of Comilla Victoria College, and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on March 20, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.
Later, Tonu’s father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house. She was then whisked off to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Tonu murder case was shifted to the CID on March 29 to expedite its probe.
Later, a six-member probe committee, headed by Dhaka senior police super Abdul Kahhar Akand, was formed on March 30 to assist the investigation.
