Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four suspected militants from the city’s Dakkhin Khan area on Wednesday.
The arrested men are identified as Sirajul Islam Seherul Mridha, 38, from Pabna district, Moniruzzaman Monir, 40, from Narayanganj, SM Hafizur Rahman Sagor, 45, from Khulna and Md Shafiul Mojnabin Turin, 27, from Rangpur, RAB said.
“Tipped off, members of RAB-1 arrested four suspected members of a militant group named “Allah’r Dal alias Allah’r Sarkar” during a drive in the area around 3:00am, RAB-1 Commanding Officer Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem told the reporters in a press briefing at RAB Media Centre in the capital on Wednesday.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted to their involvement with the militant outfit, the RAB official said.
RAB also recovered three pen drives, 12 mobile phones, leaflets and invitation letters of the militant organization, and tally books from their possession, he said.
In another special drive in Ashulia, RAB-1 arrested four members of an inter-district robber gang, the official said.
The four were allegedly involved in robbing the vehicle of a cattle trader ahead of the Eid-Ul-Azha and also for murder in the same incident.
The victim’s mobile phone and the hammer used for the murder were also recovered, he added.
