Four people were killed and 7 others injured in road accidents at different places in Bagerhat and Satkhira on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Mizan Halder, 30, son of Sekendar Halder of Tepara village, Al Amin,
28, son of Alauddin of Koramara village of Bagerhat Sadar, Mukul, 50, driver of a bus of Hanif Parihan and Akber Ali Gazi, 60, son of late Samatullah Gazi of Noapara village in Kaliganj upazila in Satkhira.
In Bagerhat, a Bagerhat-bound bus from Dhaka collided head on with a Khulna-bound pickup van near to Dharer Bridge in Sadar upazila around 5:30am, leaving three people injured, said Katakhali Highway police inspector Azizul Haque. Later, the injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where the injured Mizan Halder, and Al Amin, succumbed to their injuries around 11:30am. Meanwhile, another accident took place around 11:30am when a Bagerthat-bound Hanif Paribahan bus collided head on with another one from opposite direction in Barakpur area in Sadar upazila, leaving seven people injured.
The injured were taken to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where doctors declared one of the injured Mukul dead.
In Satkhira, the accident took place around 9:00am as a goods-laden truck ran over a bicycle riding by Akbar in the area, leaving Akbar Ali Gazi dead on the spot, said Abdul Momin, sub-inspector of Kaliganj Police Station.
Later, police with the help of locals seized the truck. Besides, in Kurigram, at least nine people, including eight freedom fighters, were injured as a human hauler collided head on with an auto-rickshaw in Durgapur area of Ulipur upazila in the morning.
The injured were taken to Kurigram Hospital and later, freedom fighter Abu Yusuf Sarkar, 70, was sent to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital. On information, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam Selim, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Amin AL Parvez, Freedom Fighters’ district unit commander Sirajul Islam Tuku visited the hospital.
