Four hurt as AL rivals clash over possession of water body

At least four people were injured, one among them bullet-hit, as two rival groups of the ruling Awami League locked into a clash over taking possession of a Baor (water-body) in Bahadurpur union of the upazila on Monday night.
Among the injured, one with bullet was identified as Kumor Ali Fakir,42, a resident of the Dhanno Khola village of the upazila.
Police said, a clash ensued between the group led by Bahadurpur union unit AL president
Mizanur Rahman and the group led by the unit’s general secretary Mafizur Rahman over taking control of a water body in Bahadurpur on Sunday.
Following the Sunday’s clash, supporters of the Mizan group equipped with firearms attacked the Mafizur group’s men on Monday night, leaving four people critically injured.
One among them, named Fakir, was shot with bullet.
The injured were admitted to Jessore 250-bed hospital and Sharsha upazila health complex.
Shahbur Rahman, sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station confirmed the incident. Additional police members were deployed to bring the situation under control.
