Four cops sued for killing drug suspect in custody

A case has been lodged against four police officials of Uttara West Police Station, including its Officer in-Charge (OC), for killing a drug suspect under their custody.
The victim’s wife filed the case on Thursday under Torture and Custody Death (Prevention) Act.
Trader by profession, victim Alamgir Hossain had been taken to the Police Station at the night of December 16, 2019, implicating him in a drug case, his family alleges.
Later, SI Mizanur Rahman, OC Tapan Chandra Saha and two
other policemen beat up Alamgir in the police station, leaving him severally injured.
He had been sent to jail following a court order the next day where he fell sick.
Alamgir had been taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries there.
