The members of Barishal Reporters Unity on Monday morning observing 19th anniversary of founding BRU called for immediate implementation of wage board and unity among the journalists.
A programme of cutting cake presided by Nazrul Islam, president BRU, was arranged on this occasion at BRU premises.
Ajiar Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Barishal, was chief guest of the programme conducted by Bappi Majumdar, secretary BRU.
Kazi Abul Kalam Azad, president Barishal Metropolitan Press Club, Nurul Alam Farid, senior journalist, representatives from different print and electronic media attended the programme.
The chief guest called to flourish authentic, objective professional journalism outside Dhaka to execute and develop flow of right to information and assured to extend all kinds of help for that.
The participants demanded immediate implementation of wage board regulations for the journalists, especially who working outside Dhaka to create professional dignity, job security and job satisfaction.
They also called for unity among the different journalist groups and organizations to achieve their legitimate rights and prevent oppression against freedom of speech and journalists.
