Fortune Tour de Bangladesh Cycling Race begins today

The much-awaited Fortune Tour de Bangladesh Cycling Race competition kicks-off today (Tuesday) amidst great enthusiasm from Bagerhat district.
Dr Mozammel Hossain, MP, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Affairs Ministry, is expected to present in inaugural ceremony as chief guest.
Dignitaries like Mayor of Bagerhat Khan Habibur Rahman and famed veteran Freedom Fighter and Zilla Parishad Chairman Kamruzzaman Tuku were expected to be present as special guest. DC Tapan Kumar Biswas will preside over the inauguration ceremony.
Bangladesh Cycling Federation (BCF) General Secretary Imtiaz Khan talking to BSS said that this venture is for a three-year initially, the first edition will be held on December 20, 21 and 23 and will cover an area of approximately 194 kilometre.
“This maiden competition will be held over three days and over three legs: the first leg starting from Bagerhat and finishing in Gopalganj distanced at 55 km on December 20, followed by Gopalganj to Kotaripara viaTongipara which distanced 84 km on the following day (December 21). After a rest day, the final leg will be held at Hatirjheel in Dhaka.
Joint Secretary Shahfiqur Rahman Babul said that there are eight participating teams : are Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Ansar, Border Guard Bangladesh , BJMC, Bangladesh Jail, Bagerhat DSA, Gopalganj DSA and Dinajpur DSA are the eight teams taking part for the inaugural meet.
Each team will consist of six cyclists and three officials. This extraordinary competition is the joint initiative of Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited (BEOL) and Bangladesh Cycling Federation (BCF).
