Former Bangladesh national team footballer Akhteruzzaman Khan Babu passed away on early Monday morning at the Christian Missionary Hospital in Vellore, India.
He was 58 and was suffering from diabetes, hypertension and several other old age complications for a long time. The veteran footballer left behind his wife, two sons and numerous admirers to mourn his death, source BFF online.
Akhteruzzaman Khan Babu joined the ranks of Bangladesh national football team during 1982-83 as a regular member of the squad. He also had a glittering club career playing for teams like Dhaka Abahani Limited, Brothers Union, Wari Club and Surjatarun Football Club.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin BFF senior vice president, all the vice-presidents, all the executive committee members including the general secretary, all the members of the standing committee and each and every official and employee of BFF were deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Akhteruzzaman Khan and conveyed their messages of heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the salvation of the eternal soul.
