Former Parliament Member (MP) of Gopalganj-1 and District Administrator Advocate Abdur Rashid died of old-age complications at his residence in the city’s Kalyanpur area on Friday night. He was 82.
Rashid was elected a lawmaker from Awami League in 1970. Later, he joined the Liberation War in 1971. He was also elected as lawmaker in 1979 and 1991.
Abdur Rashid played a significant role in framing constitution and put signature on the constitution in 1972.
He left behind three sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard in Muksudpur with state honour after Namaz-e-Janaza.
