The first Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU) Prof Sirajul Islam died at Apollo hospital in Dhaka on Saturday about 5:00pm.
Prof Sirajul Islam, also a microbiologist, had been admitted in the hospital of old-age complications. His first namaz-e janaza was held at Dhanmondi Takwa Mosque. His second namaz-e janazaalso held in front of DU Microbiology Department. Prof Sirajul Islam was the former Chairman of Dhaka University Microbiology Department and Director of Centre for Advance Research in Science. Later, he had served as Dean of School Health and Life Science faculty. He was buried in his village home in Dohar of Dhaka after his second janaza.
JnU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mijanur Rahman expressed his deep shock and condolence to the bereaved family members. JnU VC also prayed for eternal peace of Sirajul’s departed soul.
