Former DU student found dead

Police recovered the hanging body of a former Dhaka University student from a mess at Chankharpul in the city on Monday.
The body was recovered from the 8th floor of Sapna Building at Chankharpul’s Nazimuddin Road at 2:00pm.
Police said, the victim was very upset for not getting job. And from frustrations, he may commit suicide.The deceased was identified as Masud Al Mahdi (Apu), a student of the 2011-12 sessions of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department of the Dhaka University.
Apu was a resident student of Masterda Surja Sen Hall of the University. His hometown is Swarupkathi of Pirojpur district. He was the eldest of two brothers in the family.
Apu’s classmates said the meritorious student Apu did good result in both Honors and Masters Level. He also did journalism for some time.
He had been taking preparation for BCS exam for the last two years.
Apu’s roommate Zahirul Islam said that after having his lunch at around 2:00pm he came and saw the door of the room locked from inside. After knocking several times, he could not get any response. Then he called people in the surrounding rooms. Later we broke open the door and found his body hanging with a towel.
Later, the police were informed. Jasim Uddin Mollah, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lalbagh Zone, said that the police recovered the body after receiving the information. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy.
Taslima Akter, Inspector (Investigation) of Chakbazar Police Station confirmed the news to The New Nation, saying that the body sent to the DMCH for autopsy. We initially think that it was a suicide case.
According to victim’s friends, Apu was very upset for not having job. And from frustrations, he may commit suicide, Taslima added.
Inspector Bacchu Miah, the in-charge of DMCH police outpost, told The New Nation that the body was kept in the morgue for autopsy.
