Mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) led by Executive Magistrate Md. Abul Hashem convicted a Liberian flag vessel with penalty of Tk.60 thousand for polluting the port channel through dumping of effluents .
The penalty was imposed under the CPA Act-1976 in presence of the representatives of the local shipping agent Trident Shipping Lines and the ship captain.
Meanwhile four illegally constructed motor garage near port CPR gate evicted by the mobile court resulting recovery of 1.5 acres of port lands.
The machineries and equipment of the garages and under repairable trucks were sold by open auction by the CPA after expiry of the time limit as fixed by the mobile court. Deputy estate manager of CPA Zillur Rahman, Prosecution Officer Md. Masud Hossain and Peskar Aminul Islam were present during the eviction drive, sources said.
