Our Correspondent, Chandpur :
As two brick fields were left abandoned for a few years without any use , Helaluddin , also a journalist in Dhaka, decided to reform, develop and turn this abandoned land into a suitable field for growing foreign fruits on experimental basis , out of his mere hobby.
With smiles, he told this correspondent that ‘ he was actually inspired by the noted TV journalist Shykh Seraj on his programmes on TV. He is also taking tips and advice from internets. Besides, an agri official of Chandpur Moniruzzaman (Block Super) is also extending him full co-operation to make his plan successful.
Talking to this correspondent in his fruits garden, Helal has said, at a cost of about Tk 30 lakh, he has turned these abandoned brick fields’ lands (3.5 acres)into a suitable fruits garden. Some other fruits are growing in six months, some in eights months, some other fruits will take 10/12 months etc.
It was observed that his beautiful fruits’ garden is located at a serene place beside his paternal home at Shahtoli village on the bank of calm and quiet Dakatia river under Shah Mahmudpur union in ChandpurSadar.
Helal has said, ”At first, I was suspicious whether foreign fruits would grow in our Bangla soil”. Now I can see with wonder, ”Foreign fruits grow normally and naturally in our soil with good growth” . He has added, ” It has taken about four months time to gain maturity of many foreign fruits”.
