Tofail opens month-long SME Fair: Foreign entrepreneurs urged for investment in capital market

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said those who want to belittle Bangladesh before the world through conspiracies and killing foreign nationals would not be able to thwart the progress of the country.
Bangladesh is marching forward under the leadership of Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina in socio-economic fields but the conspirators want to pull Bangladesh from back.
The commerce Minister also announced that Taka 100 crore loans in soft conditions and less interest will be disbursed among the women entrepreneurs to make them advance from their backward position.
The Commerce Minister said this as chief guest while formally inaugurating the month-long 9th International Women’s SME Expo Bangladesh-2015 at city’s Pologround maidan on Sunday evening.
Commerce Minister said the government always feels the need for more assistance to the women entrepreneurs for the sake of balanced and steady economic growth of the womenfolk. He also urged the multinational companies to invest in the country’s capital market in order to boost economy in addition to sheer profit making activities.
He said Bangladesh will become a middle income country by 2021 if women who constitute half of the country’s population become successful entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the function, the commerce minister said the present government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina wants industry-friendly environment and economy in the country through active cooperation.
He said present government wants to establish corruption and militancy free progressive society by sincere cooperation from the business community.
The Minister showed instance that Bangladesh has become a model for facing natural calamity, leading climate change campaign, world peace keeping through proper management and cooperation from people of all strata in the country.
Tofail also called upon the members of the business community to supplement the government’s efforts for establishing a digital Bangladesh as per “Vision 2021” through incorporating modern technologies in their business enterprises. Kamrun Malek, President of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CWCCI) presided over the inaugural function while
city mayor A J M Nasir Uddin, Wasfika Aysha Khan, MP, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mahbubul Alam, senior Vice President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Monowara Hakim Ali among others, addressed the function.
Entrepreneurs from Iran, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh are taking part in the exposition which will remain open from 10am to 10pm every day. A total of 365 stalls and 15 pavilions have been set up to showcase different services of SME institutions from home and abroad.
