Following Sufism to establish non-communal society stressed

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Sufism always plays a strong role in flourishing humanitarian values and non-communal spirit in the society.
“We should take lessons from Sufism aiming to remove extremism and conflicts from the society and address the crisis and challenges we have been facing,” he said this on Saturday while speaking at a conference at Dhaka University (DU).Allama Rumi Society Bangladesh organised the daylong international conference at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium on the campus, marking the birth anniversary of prominent author Syed Ahmedul Haq, popularly known as ‘Banglar Rumi’.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nahid said life becomes beautiful when one follows the consciousness mentioned in Sufism.
“The violence that is going on in the society can be addressed using the spirit of Sufism…proper education can be learnt from the lives of Sufis like Syed Ahmedul Haq,” he said.
The Education Minister urged young generation to follow the spirit of Sufism to become a human being in real sense.
Teachers and philosophers from different universities of Bangladesh, India and Iran took part in the conference.
Iranian Ambassador in Dhaka Abbas Vaezi Dehnavi, DU Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Dr Sadeka Halim and Prof Dr AKM Saiful Islam Khan of DU Persian Language and Culture Department, among others, spoke at the conference.
