2 women found dead in city

Two young women were found dead yesterday morning in the city’s Pallabi and Shahbagh areas.
Of the victims, one was identified as Tania Akhter, 22, wife of a Bahrain expatriate Ratan Miji, a resident of 12/B, Uttar Kalshi under Pallabi Police Station while identity of the remaining one could not be known immediately.
In Pallabi, police recovered the body of Tania hanging from a ceiling fan around 10.30 in the morning after breaking open window grill of her bedroom which was found
under lock and key from inside at their Uttar Kalshi residence, said Sub-Inspector Fakuzzaman Khan.
No injury marks were found on her body, he said adding that the exact cause of Tania’s death could be known after carrying out postmortem.
Her body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for postmortem.
While, the victim’s uncle, Abul Hossain alleged that Tania has been killed by her in-laws, and her body was later hanged with a ceiling fan to convince others it as a suicide case.
Tania, who got married with Ratan 18 months back, was supposed to go to her husband in Bahrain within 10 to 15 days, was killed in a planned way as they failed to stop her to stay in the country, he alleged.
In Shahbagh, police recovered floating body of an unidentified woman from the pond of Suhrawardi Uddayan around 9.45 am, said Sub Inspector SI Anarul Islam of Shahbagh Police Station.
