Begum Rokeya Day observed: Following ideal, conscience of Rokeya stressed

Children and Women Affairs including Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a rally, discussion, Joyeeta reception and cultural function marking the 139th birth and 87th death anniversary of Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain on Monday.
A discussion meeting and Joyeeta reception-padak- 2019 held at local collectorate conference hall on Monday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury attanded as chief guest while Deputy Director of Woman Affairs Md. Mamunur Rashid in the chair.
Deputy Secretary of Local Government, Dhaka Division Joyeeta Hasina Akhter, ADC (General) Abdullah Al Masud and Acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Mustafizur Rahman were attended as special guest.
It was address among others by Senior Information Officer Shamsul Islam, CAB District President Alam Sarowar Tito, Hindu Kallan Trusti Advocate Dholon Bhowmic, Joyeeta Khaleda Islam and Joyeeta Hasina Haider.
D.C Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said that special attention is needed to ensure the protection of of women in all sphere of life. All men and women hae to be aware so that no one falls to victim of such torture.
Later a collourfull rally brought out in the town marking the day led by D.C Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury.
Chandpur Correspondent says: On the occasion of Begum Rokeya Day on Monday , five successful women were formally awarded prizes and certificates for overcoming various odds and oddities in their family and outside lives.
The awardees are Rabeya Akter Maya – successful woman enterpriser and business person in Hajiganj Upazila.,
Salma Akter – a successful educator and service holder in Chandpur Sadar. Fatema Khatoon-a successful mother in Hajiganj. Khadija Begum – a successful woman of Matlab Dakhshin Upazila. She has started a new lease of life overcoming so many odds and repressions in family life.
Mosammat Shahinoor Begum of Kochua Upazila. She is a good and pioneer lady who has enough contribution in social development works in Kochua Upazila.
As chief guest, DC Mazedur Rahman Khan has handed over the crests and certificates to the awardees at a function held to mark the Begum Rokeya Day at the DC’s Conference Room at the Collectorate Bhavan today Monday.  
ADC Education& ICT Daud Hossain , Additional Police Super (Sadar Circle) Jahid Parvej Chowdhury, Mohila Affairs Directorate’s Deputy Director Rafiya Iqbal, Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha’s Chandpur Unit Chairperson Prof Masuda Khanam among others spoke on the occasion.
Naogaon Correspondent reports: The Begum Rokeya Day was celebrated by Department of Women’s Affairs at Adamdighi Upazila of Bogura on Monday A discussion meeting was held at Upazila Hallroom at 12pm yesterday to preserve the day, chaired by Women Affairs Officer Farooq Hossain. Speaking at the meeting, Upazila Chairman and General Secretary of Upazila Aowamilig Alhaj Sirajul Islam Khan Raju, Upazila Executive Officer AKM Abdullah Bin Rashid, Agriculture Officer Mithu Chandra Adhikari, Thana Officer Inchaz Jalal Uddin, Ad. Shamsul Alam Sam Chapapur Up, Khandaker Samsul Haque Nasratpur Up, Kundagram Up S.M Belal Hossain, freedom fighter Abir Uddin Khan. In the end, the best five women Priyatma Das, Sultana Akhter, Fatema Khatun, Jahanara Begum, Sahara Begum were awarded the winning award for their contribution to the society.
BSS from Khulna says: Begum Rokeya Day was observed in the city here on Monday with due respect and a befitting manner. The Department of Women Affairs and the district administration jointly chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day. Later, a discussion on the life and works of Begum Rokeya was held at the CSS Ava centre conference hall at about 11am with deputy commissioner (DC) Md Helal Hossain in the chair. Member of Parliament of Khulna -2 constituency Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, MP, attended the meeting as the chief guest while Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Hawlader attended it as a honourable guest. Among others, Deputy Director of District Women Affairs Nargis Fatema Zamin, Deputy Director of Local government Ishrat Jahan, Director of Archeology Department of Khulna Afroza Mita and Chairman of Jatiya Mahila Sangstha Hosne Ara Runu spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said Begum Rokeya was born in a restricted elite Muslim family at Pairabond village under Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur district on December 9, 1880 and died on the same day in 1932 in Kolkata.
