Finance Minister A.M.A Muhith issued a D.O letter demanding immediate inclusion of new coaches (Commonly known as compartments) in Sylhet-Dhaka and Sylhet-Chittagong intercity trains, says a reliable source of Bangladesh Railway (BR).
It can be mentioned here that there is an acute shortage of compartments felt by all quarters. For the shortage of tickets, untoward incidents take place time and again at Sylhet Railway Station.
Moreover people together with their family members feel comfortable in availing themselves journey by inter-city trains in particular.
Recently Finance Minister issued a D.O letter to Railway Minister Mujibul Haque in this connection. The Finance Minister also demanded construction of double-line in Sylhet-Akhaura Section on an immediate basis, because trains cannot cross each other smoothly owing to the absence of double-line in Sylhet-Akhaura Section. It can be mentioned here that Bangladesh Railway, the national transport always makes profit in Sylhet-Dhaka and Sylhet-Chittagong routes. Moreover, as there have been tourists spots in Sylhet, the rush in Railway has been a regular feature. The Finance Minister demanded new coaches for the Parbat Express, an intercity train that runs between Sylet and Dhaka and vice-versa.
