Kishoreganj District Administration arranged colourfull rally, postering, discussion and documentary film marking the World Torism Day on Friday.
Aiming to boost contribution to the country’s national economy, the government is formulation a ‘Practical and Application’ based Tourism Master Plan (TMP) to explore all the untapped potentiality. Which is the also a motto of the World Tourism Day.
A discussion meeting on Tourism and Job: A better future of all was held at Collectorate Conference room on Friday morning.
ADM Zakir Hossain presided over the meeting.
It was addressed among others by Professor Rabindranath Chowdhury, Agriculture Extension Officer Dr. Mohit Kumar Day, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito and Women Leader Salma Hoque.
ADM Zakir Hossain said that Bangladesh has also taken initiative for inclusive tourism to ensure sustainable development of the sector.
BSS from Khulna reports : The World Tourism Day was observed in the Khulna city on Friday) in a befitting manner. Khulna district administration, tour operators association and different organisations observed the day with the global theme ‘ “In Future Development, Job Opportunity in Tourism” like elsewhere in the globe.
To mark the day, district administration with the other organisations jointly took up various programmes, including rally and discussion, in the city.
The rally, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Md. Ziaur Rahman, started from Khulna Shaheed Hadis Park and concluded at the deputy commissioner’s office after parading different important city streets.
Later, a discussion was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner with ADC Md. Ziaur Rahman in the chair.
Divisional Assistant Forest Officer of West Sundarban Zone Md. Abu Saleh presented the key note paper while President of Khulna Tour Operators Association Md. Moinul Islam Jomadder conducted the meeting.
In the discussion, speakers stressed the need for wide-ranging campaign about natural beauty of Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, to attract more tourists and to boost tourism sector of the country.
ADC Ziaur Rahman, in his speech, said tourists, local community and stakeholders can play a vital role for the sustainable development of tourism.
Terming Khulna region is an important place of tourism flourishing, he said world heritage site mangrove forest Sundarban, Shatgambuz mosque, father-in-laws house of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, World famous scientist PC Roy’s house and famous poet Michael Modhusudan’s residence can be attracting places for tourism.
Every year, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) celebrates the “World Tourism Day” on September 27.

Marking the day, the district administration chalked out the elaborate programmes that included bringing out rally, arrangement of essay writing competition and prizes distribution to the winners.
Apart from it, a discussion organized by district administration was also held at the conference room of the District Collectorate Building here this morning around 10am.
Acting deputy commissioner (DC) Rokhsana Begum addressed the discussion meeting as the chief guest and civil surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, additional police super Anwar Hossain, and general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique were present at the event as the special guests.
The tourism industry would help the country reach its desired destination and attain the cherished goals side by side with creating working opportunities freshly to the unemployed youths, they said.
Acting DC Rokhsana Begum in her speeches said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the initiatives to promote the tourism industry of the country to attract natural, historical sites and cultural activities to the foreign tourists.
The World Economic Forum has recently published a report on tourism titled “Travel and Tourism Competitive Report-2019”, ranking Bangladesh 120th. Bangladesh’s earlier rank was 125th, she also said.
The discussion was followed by a cultural function where a number of artistes rendered songs to entertain the participants.
A large number of people from all walks of life including officials, social workers, students and teachers including journalists of print and electronic media participate in the programmes spontaneously.

The views were expressed at a post-rally discussion arranged in celebrations of the World Tourism Day- 2019 at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner here with the theme of ‘Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All’ on Friday. The district administration in association with Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and Bangladesh Tourism Board organised rally, discussion, competitions for children and prize distribution to celebrate the day.
Earlier, a huge colourful rally, participated by students, teachers, rovers, scouts, youths, officials and employees and civil society members, was brought out on the main city streets.
Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan as the chief guest inaugurated the celebrations by releasing balloons and pigeons followed by leading the rally and attending the discussion moderated by Executive Magistrate Raihanul Islam.Presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir, Office Secretary of district Awami League Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, Additional Police Super Maruf Hossain, Manager of Rangpur Parjatan Motel Syeed Md Tarikul Islam, Inspector of Rangpur Tourist Police Masud Alam and Zoo Officer of Rangpur Zoo Dr Mossarraf Hossain addressed the discussion as special guests.Syeed Md Tarikul Islam narrated prevailing implausible potentials in the tourism sector and steps taken by the present government to explore those for accelerating economic advancement of the nation.
“Proper flourishing of potentials prevailing in the places with historical interests, sea beaches, archaeological sites and tourist spots across the country can attract travelers from home and abroad and create huge jobs,” he added.
