Flood victims suffering for lack of relief: Fakhrul

The victims of ongoing flood across the country are immensely suffering for and shortage of food and drinking water whereas the government has failed to provide them relief materials, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged on Saturday.
Mirza Alamgir said it on Saturday noon at the time of distributing relief materials among the flood victims at Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat.
“AL never think of the countrymen; contrarily BNP’s politics is for the nation and its people,” said the BNP leader.
The Teesta River flows through both India and Bangladesh, but we are deprived of our shares in water, rather Teesta has become source of sorrows in the rivers shoal areas.
“We need to unite the people through out the country to realise their rights,” Fakhrul Islam also said.
BNP yesterday distributed relief materials among flood victims in the Teesta shoal areas.
Each family was given a packet of relief materials including eight kg rice, five kg potatoes, two kg lentils, two kg salt, one litre of cooking oil, 500grams sugar, one kg chira (flattened rice), three packets of biscuit and three packets of oral saline.
During the relief distribution, BNP’s Standing Committee member and relief coordinator Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Joint Secretary Sayed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Rangpur Divisional Organising Secretary and Lalmonirhat District BNP President Asadul Habib Dulu, and Executive Committee member Hasan Rajib Prodhan were present among other central leaders and members.
