Flood situation to improve slowly

Despite scattered rainfall across the country, water levels of all the major rivers will decline this week which will lead to improvement of flood situation countrywide soon.
As of 9.00 am on Wednesday, Among 101 water level monitoring stations of the country, 37 observed a rising trend in different rivers, 39 stations observed a declining trend and 25 remained unchanged.
But the water levels of the 17 rivers were flowing above danger level in 27 points in 18 districts, said a latest bulletin published by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) at 9.00 am on Wednesday.
In the next 24 hours, the water level of the Teesta River may cross the danger level at Dalia point, added the bulletin.
The FFWC said that major rivers of the northeastern region of the country “are in rising trend”, excepting the Kushiyara River, which might be continued till next 24 hours.
The water levels of the rivers of the Ganges-Padma basin are in a stable situation which might be continued till next 48 hours.
The water level of the Brahmanputra and Jamuna rivers has declined in the plane land areas in last 24 hours, also said the forecasting.
Water level in the Dhaka district Surroundings Rivers have increased in the plane land areas which will continue till next 24 hours.
The overall flood situation of Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Jamalpur, Nator, Sirajganj, Tangail, Naogaon and Brahmanbaria districts is likely to improve during the next 24 hours.
And flood situation of Manikganj, Munshiganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chandpur, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Dhaka and Narayanganj districts may remain stable till next 24 hours.

The situation may be deteriorated in the low land areas of the Dhaka South City Corporation in next 24 hours.
