Fixed, middle income group guardians worried over hike in edn charges in Narsingdi

Fixed and middle income group parents and guardians are worried as education has been going out of the reach of their children in the district due to the unusual hike in admission fees, session fees and also the tuition fees.
The guardians said that a section of business trend in the district and upazila headquarters open schools taking advantage on the name of standard school and making wind fall gains.
They alleged that the profit mongers of these private schools have been charging unreasonable session charges and other fees at the time of admission and new education year. The session fees and admission charges is not the only cost of starting academic life of a kid. Their parents bound to purchase of several other items from the institutions at higher price such as uniform, badge, exercise books and additional books and stationeries which are unbearable to the poor and middle income guardians.
Hundreds of families, mostly the middle class are currently affected by the persisting rise in academic charges of the private Bangla and English medium schools
Families, particularly the lower income group are the worst victims of the tactics of the mess makers who rule the roost in the private schools, The guardians have little competence to bear the heavy burden of educational expenses of their wards.
Recently the correspondent visited different so call standard schools, found that most of the schools are running academic activities in on rental buildings with small size classrooms and without having sufficient teachers.
When asked about session fees and admission charge hike, some school managements refused but others have acknowledged the truth. A number of educational institutions in the district have increased tuition fees to100 percent.
While talking to the Head master of Narsindi NKM high school and Homes (Bangla medium ) Arif Rahman said recently they have admitted 420 students in class One with taking admission and others fees TK 3800 and tuition fees of January Tk 800, total Tk4600. While the correspondent talking with the principal of the Abdul Kadir Mollah International (English medium ) School Gm Nizam Uddin said that admission of their school in standard one- session fees Tk 30,000, Admission fees 20,000 and tuition fee of January Tk5300 in total Tk-55300,
Administrative officer, Pinnacle chartered school l(English medium), at Narsingdi town said in standard one admission of their school, Session fees and other fees total Tk 10900, and tuition fee of January Tk 2500 in total Tk13400,.
“Education is a right but it’s being made into a costly commodity”, said a number of parents here .They said we have desire to admit our child in the standard school but it is not within the range of our capability.
