Police in an overnight drive arrested five robbers with locally-made weapons when they were allegedly taking preparation for committing robbery in Nabinbag Balurmath under Khilgaon police station in the city yesterday.
Sub-Inspector of Khilgaon Police Station Mohammad Nawser Ali told BSS that the arrested were identified as Amirul Islam alas Bobla, 30, M Sumon Hasan alias Sabuj, 30, Mohammad Masum, 20, Mohammad Tuhin, 25, and Mohammad Ashik, 20. He said they are the members of an inter-district robbers (dacoits) gang. A case was filed with Khilgaon police station in this connection.
