At least five persons were killed and several others critically injured in separate road crashes in the country on Saturday.
Of them, two died in Gazipur, one in Rajshahi, one in Netrokona and another in Nilphamari districts.
In Gazipur, two persons died and at least 10 others were injured in separate accidents in Gazipur district.
A readymade garment worker named Wasim, 30, from Singarchar area under Phulpur upazila of
Mymensingha and an unidentified local beggar died.
The garment worker died when a minibus fell into a roadside ditch in Narayankul area of Pubail in Gazipur district on Saturday morning.
Pubail Police Outpost In-Charge Md Shafiqul Alam confirmed the news to media.
The unidentified beggar was killed under a running train at Gazipur City Corporation’s Tapulia. Railway police recovered the dead body on Saturday noon.
Deputy Assistant Inspector of Joydevpur Railway Junction Police Camp Mithun Chakraborty said that the accident occurred when he was walking along Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line in the morning. He was killed on the spot
In Rajshahi, an official of Non-Government Organization (NGO) Caritas was killed after struck by a speedy truck in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi district on Saturday noon.
The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 42, son of one Altaf Mandal from Miapara village of Chapai Nawabganj district. He was the Manager of Caritas Durgapur upazila unit.
SM Abul Kashem, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohanpur Police Station confirmed the incident to media.
In Netrokona , a motorcycle rider was killed when a truck rammed him in Ananda Bazar area of Netrokona on Saturday. The accident occurred at around 12.30 pm.
The deceased was Jasim Uddin (25).
Netrokona Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Borhan Khan confirmed the incident to media.
In Lalmonirhat, a motorcyclist named Raihan Hossain, 27, was killed at Mandalhat Bazar in Lalmonirhat Sadar.
The accident took place on Saturday on the Mahendranagar-Mostafirhat Road. Traffic Sergeant Farid Hossain of Lalmonirhat sadar upazila confirmed the incident.
