At least five more persons including three in Sylhet were killed and several others injured in lightnings in separate districts of the country on Tuesday.
In Sylhet, at least three youths were killed when a thunderbolt hit them during rain and nor’wester in Fenchuganj upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at Terakuri village under the Fenchuganj upazila.
The deceased were identified as Jitu Miah, 38, Rajon Miah, 28, and Anwar Hossain, 42.
Badruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fenchuganj Police Station confirmed the matter to the media.
In Sunamganj, a worker named Ali Hossain, 27, was killed and two others seriously injured when a lightning struck them while they were pulling stone out of the Sela River in Dowarabazar upazila of the district.
The victim Ali Hossain was son of one late Shafir Uddin from Sonapur village.
Sushil Ranjan Das, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dowarabazar police station told the matter to the media.
In Natore, a youth named Shahin Hossain, 22, was killed when a lightning hit him in Naldanga upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
Deceased Shahin was a son of one Abdur Rahim from Maddhaypara of the upazila.
