Five injured in clash over stalking

At least 5 people were injured in a clash between the relatives of a stalker and guardians of victim schoolgirl in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon.
The injured Jamal Uddin and Kabir Uddin, of Mirzar Chak village, and Akash Roy, Sushil Roy and Chittaranjan Roy, of Muikandi village of Sultanpur union under Jakiganj upazila in the district, were given treatment at the local upazila health complex.
Local union council chairman Kabir Ahmad told that an engine-run rickshaw-puller Avi Roy allegedly disturbed several female students of Imdad Mazumder Bidyaniketan in the area in the afternoon when they were returning home from the school.
Being informed by the students of the school, their guardians of the schoolgirls went to the spot and protested at the incident when the relatives of the stalker were locked into an altercation.
At one state of the altercation, both sides were locked into a clash that injured the five people, the union council chairman said. Jakiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Habibur Rahman Hawlader said that local elites, including ruling Awami League leaders, were trying to settle the issue in the evening through arbitration.
