Five persons have died of corona like symptoms in four districts in the last 24 hours.
In Netrakona, a man and woman died with fever and cold in Purbadhola upazila on Sunday and Monday.
A 40-year old man, who had been suffering fever since Wednesday, died at Kismat Barega in Gohalakanda union around 8:45 pm on Monday.
As the man had been suffering from breathing problem, a team from upazila health office collected his sample for coronavirus test and gave medicine in the morning.
Later, he died at night. After his death, local administration locked down seven houses adjacent to his house, said Mohammad Touhidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Purbadhola Police Station.
Earlier, a 50-year old woman died at Hugla union early Sunday with the same symptoms.
With the latest deaths, a total of four people died in the last three days with fever and cold. In Chapainawabganj, a man suffering from fever andcold died at Purboshaheb village in Gomostapur upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Mozammel, 45, son of Hasimuddin of the village.
Civil Surgeon Dr Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury, said Mozammel returned home from Singair upazila in Manikganj district around 11 am on Monday. Mozammel went there for cutting paddy as a day labourer, said family sources.
Policesaid Mozammel and his associate Emran were kept in self-isolation at their home after their return from Manikganj. Mozammel died around 8:30 pm on Monday with fever and cold, Civil Surgeon Zahid Nazrul.
Later he was buried on Tuesday morning. Local administration has put the village under lockdown following the death of Mozammel.
In Khulna, an old woman suffering from fever, sneeze and cough died at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) on early Tuesday.
Rupsha Upazila Health Officer Dr Anisur Rahman said the woman, who is just above 60, died around 1am.
She was a resident of Rupsha Upazila.
She got admitted to Rupsha Upazila Health Complex after returning home from Dhaka with her daughter-in-law a week ago but hid her travel history. Civil Surgeon Dr Sujat Ahmed said samples from the deceased and her relative will be tested at KMCH. Rupsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Akhter said they have been tracing contact history of the woman and sending people to home quarantine.
KMCH is going to start coronavirus tests using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines from Tuesday.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 123 coronavirus cases and 12 deaths.
In Sylhet, a 79-year-old woman suffering from breathing problems died at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital on Monday night.
Sushanto Kumar Mohapatra, resident medical officer of the hospital, said the woman died at 9:30pm while undergoing treatment at the isolation unit.
She had kidney problems, diabetes and breathing complications, he added.
The body was handed over to family members after consulting with the Civil Surgeon, he added.
