Five cultural personalities were awarded in recognition of their laudable contribution to the cultural field.
The awarded persons are: Monjushree Roy (Music), Jabed Ali (Dance), Tazul Islam (Drama), Dr Dinobandhu Paul (Instrument music) and Abu Kalam Azad (Fine arts).
Shilpakala Academy, Rajshahi gave the ‘District Shilpakala Award-2015’ formally in a function held in its auditorium in Rajshahi.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, and dance legend Bazlar Rahman addressed the ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair.
Additional Deputy Commissioners Parvej Raihan and Md Salah Uddin and Cultural Officer of Shilpakala Academy Asaduzzaman Sarker also spoke.
Lawmaker Badsha says contribution of the cultural personalities is very significant towards the nation-building process and there is a need of giving recognition to them properly.
If the contributors were recognized many more persons would be encouraged and inspired for good works, he added.
