Police have arrested five people in connection with the snatching of Tk 4 lakh from a development agent in Ishwardi. The robbery took place at 10:30 pm on last Thursday on the slope of MP turn in Laxikunda Union of the upazila. The arrested are Sujan, 28, son of Chhalim Sardar of Nurullapur village in Laxikunda upazila and Rimel Robin Biswas, 20, son of Rabiul Biswas of Burampur village. Limon Biswas, 21, son of Sirajul Biswas of Charruppur village, Roni Mollah, 20, son of Majnu Mollah of Kamalpur village and Rohan Biswas Raihan, son of Sentu Biswas of Burampur village.
Atiqur Rahman Atiq, in-charge of Rooppur outpost, confirmed the incident and said that the snatchers were arrested after conducting a raid with the force of the outpost till dawn. At this time 3 lakh 20 thousand rupees snatched has been recovered.
It is learned that Rabiul Alam, uncle of Konak Development Agent, and his cousin Ayon Dokar were returning home at around 10:30 pm at the corner of Laxmikunda MP. As soon as they got down from the MP turn, 5-6 youths snatched around four lakh rupees along with their used mobile phones from the shop in their hands and fled. After recognizing one of the snatchers, Kanak lodged a complaint with the police. Later, after an overnight operation, the police arrested 5 snatchers.
