Marginal fishermen held human chain rally in front of Barisal DC’s office on Wednesday morning to press home their 6-point demands including hard step for preventing piracy.
Their demand included taking hard steps against piracies, rescue and recovery of abducted fishermen and fishing boats, ensuring safety and security of them, arranging relief and rehabilitation programmes including alternative livelihoods during fishing-ban period.
They also handed over a memorandum to the prime minister through the deputy commissioner on these issues.
The programme was jointly organised by Bangladesh Khudro Matsyajibi Jeley Samity (BKMJS) and Barisal district Matsya Aratdar Association (BMAA).
