BSS, Rangpur :The three-day first Omera Cup Golf Tournament-2015 ended through a colourful prize-giving ceremony held at the auditorium of Rangpur Cantonment on Saturday night.Eighty contestants, including 48 males, five females, 12 junior and 15 sub-junior golfers participated respectively in the male, female, junior and sub-junior groups of the tournament sponsored by MGL Bangladesh Limited.Rangpur Area Commander, General Officer Commanding of 66 Infantry Division and President of Rangpur Golf Club Major General Salah Uddin Miazi attended the inaugural and concluding ceremonies as the chief guest.The final rounds were held at the Golf Ground of Rangpur Cantonment on Saturday followed by the prize-giving ceremony in the evening.In the senior male group, Brigadier General Shams secured the first position while Brigadier General Kabir secured second position in male group in the tournament.Golfer Dr Zabed Akhter secured the first position and Lieutenant Colonel Shamim became the runner up in the nine-hole event.Colonel Feroz Khan won award for becoming the best gross, Colonel Zulfiquer Ali as best gross runner up, Lieutenant Colonel Zulfiqar as second gross runner up, Major Mostafiz as the maximum par and Brigadier General Hazari as minimum par.In the Female Group, Mrs Nasrine Jahan Bobby and Nafisa Nayeem secured the first and second position to become the champion and runner up respectively.Abdur Rahman and Miss Sumaiya Haque Subah came out as the champion and runner up in the Junior Group while Miss Fatema and Nawshin became the champion and runner up in the sub-junior group respectively.President of Rangpur Golf Club Major General Salah Uddin Miazi distributed prizes among the winners of different groups and events of the tournament.Chief Executive Officer of MGL Bangladesh Limited Khondker Mohammad Sanaul Haque, high military and civil officials and journalists from the electronic media were present in the inaugural and concluding ceremonies.The prize-giving ceremony was followed by a colourful cultural function at the same venue where music, songs and dances were presented.
