The Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee on Monday finally published the first merit list for admission into higher secondary courses after a three-day delay due to technical problem.
Secretary of Education Ministry Nazrul Islam Khan announced the publication at 12:30am in a press briefing in the Bangladesh
University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
“A total of 10,93,374 students have been nominated for admission on the first merit list,” he said.
The list is available on the official website – www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd.
As many as 1.15 million students, who passed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations in 2015, are waiting for the list to be accepted by the college of their choice.
The results for class XI admission which were scheduled to be published on Thursday could not be published due to technical glitches on the website, Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan said.
In view of the delayed results, the Sub-Committee President Professor Abu Bakar Siddique previously said, “The students will have an opportunity to get themselves admitted into colleges without any fee for delay from June 29 to July 1.”
But the classes will start on July 1 as per the previous schedule, he added.
The second merit list is scheduled to be published on July 2 based on the number of seats remaining in colleges after students of the first lot were enrolled.
