First ever Nat’l Jute Day on March 6

The country is going to observe the National Jute Day for the first time from next year as part of the government’s continued efforts to revive the golden era of jute that had been the number one export earner until late seventies.
“The National Jute Day has been fixed on March 6 from next year,” State Minister for Jute and Textiles Mirza Azam announced this at a meeting held at his ministry on Thursday.
According to the decision, concerned people from unions, upazilas, districts, divisions and capital Dhaka would be involved during the colourful observance of the day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to kick-off a 3-day fair of jute products at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on March 6.
